Bahamas tourism figures have reached an all-time high. The Bahamas attracted more than 7.2million visitors in 2019, according to figures from the Bahamas Tourism & Aviation Ministry. And that is even allowing for a slow down in growth caused by Hurricane Dorian. Tourism & Aviation Minister, Dionisio D’Aguilar, says, “It is with great pride and pleasure that I report The Bahamas’ strongest tourism numbers in history.”
The Bahamas tourism authority aims to continue the momentum during 2020 as the islands are “still rockin’” with much to offer visitors.
The number of foreign arrivals by air and sea rose 9% year-over-year. In addition, the 1.78million total of stopover visitors was the highest in recorded history. The vast majority – 1.45million – were from the United States.
The record visitor numbers mirror the strong demand for Bahamas real estate experienced by Engel & Völkers Bahamas.
Cheryl De Goicoechea, Long Island advisor says, “When visitors see the beauty and charm of The Bahamas, they want to stay here for longer than just a holiday – and inquire with us about Bahamas property listings.
“And record Bahamas tourism arrivals is also great news for real estate investors, who want to maximize income by renting out their Bahamas property when they are not using it.”
With new routes and additional flights being introduced this year (read New Bahamas flights set to further boost real estate sales), visitor numbers could hit a new record in 2020.
