A new art initiative developed by The Current at Baha Mar aims to launch a service bringing local artists and their work closer to residential and commercial property owners. John Cox, Creative Art Director for The Current, says, “The Current’s Black Glove Curatorial Service is built on what Baha Mar taught us about managing art in complex and dynamic spaces. While curating the resort, we worked with over 80 artists using over 250 reproductions and 600 plus original works which inspires our ability to execute any project. Whether it is a private home, office, or commercial building, The Current team manages the whole curatorial process from consulting, production, transport to installation.”
Local real estate firm Engel & Völkers has jumped on board to support the initiative by marketing properties along with local art installations. The campaign will feature exciting real estate opportunities along with virtual installations from many of the Bahamas’ top artists.
Engel & Volkers broker Colin Lightbourn says, “With several hundred new condos coming out of the ground on Nassau and Paradise Island, we recognize that The Current’s Black Glove Curatorial Service fills a void. Most of these units will be sold unfurnished. This is a new opportunity for real estate investors to finish their interiors around the work of these incredible Bahamian art pieces. I expect that many real estate brokerages and developers will take advantage of this creative service for their clients.”
The marketing will collaborate real estate renderings with virtual art installations promoting the synergy between real estate, the environment and local art. Works include both original and print art and offer diverse options for style, price and lifestyle. Depending on whether it is a personal residence or a rental investment, owners can adjust the value and quality of the art they want to use to design their space.
